Describing NERIST with its resources as great asset of the state to bridge the gap between the developed and disadvantaged regions of the country, the minister hoped the festival would come out with a blue print for Arunachal Pradesh-specific technology to harness its resources. In his brief speech, Director, Higher and Technical Education, Dr. Joram Begi exhorted the students of NERIST to make good use of the festival where students will have the opportunities to nurture their talents through creative and innovative technical management skill and knowledge.

NE region, especially Arunachal Pradesh, has been lagging far behind in technological front as compared to other parts of the country, Begi said, adding that NERIST can play a very important role in this direction by way of producing skilled human resources. He exhorted the young scientists to innovate ideas that are best suited for application in local condition.

He informed that faculties are being involved in research activities at least for 37 projects for socio-economic development of the state. He hoped that once the bio-diesel project is commissioned, it would not only be a substitute for conventional fuel source but also uplift the socio-economic condition of the people of the state.

Your case is devoid of merit: Court tells APPSC

Itanagar, Apr 01: Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) “irritated” by the decision of Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APSIC) after being directed to allow an applicant to peruse an answer script knocked the Gauhati High Court. But the Court dismissed the writ petition filed by Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission as it was devoid of merit and uphold the decision of APSIC.

One Sange Norbu, an aspirant for the post of Inspector, Tax and Excise filed an RTI application under RTI Act 2005 to Public Information Officer, Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission on 15 Jan 2007 to allow him to peruse Mathematics answer script.

Dissatisfied with the answered by the Public Service Commission and given the fact that in a similar case, Public Service Commission had allowed perusal of answer script, Norbu filed an appeal to the State Information Commission . The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission rejected the contention of the Public Service Commission that disclosure of answer script of any competitive examination conducted will affect the impartial and autonomous status APPSC as the answer scripts are top secret documents.

Information Commission had said that answerer scripts are not so secret to be covered under Official Secret Act. It said that once the results are out, answer scripts cease to be confidential and secret and public interest justify the disclosure of such information.

Farmer, SHG and unemployed youth on NABARD’s radar

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is on a mission mood in Arunachal Pradesh to help the Govt solve the unemployment problem with self-employment ventures.

Disclosing the vision for 2010-11 during a press meet here today, NABARD Regional Office general manager Dr B G Mukhopadhyay informed that the bank has plan to go for an extensive capacity building programme for the Farmer’s Clubs, SHGs and unemployed youths in active association with the Govt agencies and NGOs.

NABARD is trying to reach out every district of the state, he said while adding that educating the people at the district, block and circle levels will be on priority agenda so that the people could be made aware on the schemes available for them and they could make informed choices.

Initiatives are being taken for linking the farmers and SHGs to markets, creation of new partners and extensive engagement of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and local community-based organistions for Tribal Development Fund (TDF), FTTF and FIFP projects, Mukhopadhyay revealed.

NABARD has facilitated setting up of Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI), he said and disclosed that Govt of India has sanctioned Rs 1 crore to Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank (APRB) for setting up the Institute at Itanagar for catering to the training and capacity building needs of the local unemployed youth of the state. Hopefully, state Govt has confirmed the allotment of land for establishment of RSETI at Itanagar, he added.

Highlighting the achievements made by NABARD during 2009-10 NABARD deputy general manager A K Pasrija informed that NABARD RO had sanctioned 6 road and 1 bridge project involving RIDF loan of Rs 56.20 crore and disbursed RIDF loan of Rs. 78.41 crore for on going and new projects together.

Investment credit of Rs.371.58 lakh was disbursed to Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank (APRB) for providing loans to farmers and unemployment youths for taking up agriculture, allied activities, non farm sector and service sector activities. This was also up by 364% as over 2008-09, he added. Though NABARD targeted all the districts of the state under its promotional and develolmental functions, it has initiated several steps for financial inclusion of 5 districts, namely, Changlang, Dibang Valley, East Kameng, Lohit and Tirap as identified by Rangarajan Committee through District Level Seminars and drawing Action Plan.

NABARD accelerated the process of putting into reality the Micro Finanace Vision-2011 of the State Govt by providing technical and financial support, he said, adding 80 CDPOs of the Dept of Social welfare were trained as Master Trainers, which conducted 42 district level training programmes in identified 8 districts in the first phase for more than 1300 anganwadi workers during the year. The Department has already formed more than 1000 SHGs in 8 districts, he said.

Under SHG Bank Linkage Programme it has provided grant assistance of Rs.10 lakh to 7 NGOs for promoting 250 SHGs in 5 districts, namely, Changlang, Lohit, Kurung Kumey, Lower Subansiri and Papum Pare districts.

During 2009-10, NABARD RO had sanctioned grant of Rs. 11.32 lakh to various NGOs for conducting 4 REDPs for training 100 SHG members and for conducting 11 Skill Development Programmes for training 250 people for the various activities. 110 Farmers Clubs, across 10 districts of the State were set up with help of NGOs/KVKs.

PC to arrive in Itanagar on Friday

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: Union Minister P. Chidambaram, who is arriving in the State Capital tomorrow, will visit Poma village, 32 km from Itanagar and see the Bamboo Processing Center set up there. The socio-economic rural development project is the brainchild of State Governor, Gen JJ Singh. The sleepy village has been energiesed by the Bamboo Processing Center and turned into nucleus of various activities like PMGSY, NREGA, organic farming, bee keeping, tourism and also afforestation programmes. Turned into a model village, today, it has carpeted road, power, better school and health care centre. Many projects are coming up in the area due to the BPC, which has already received orders in lakhs for agarbati sticks etc. The Craft shop is already decked with products, such as baskets, mats, table lamps, mugs and carry belts made by the local ladies of Poma areas. The Union Minister will be seeing the successful pilot project on the day.

During his maiden visit, the Union Minister is also likely to visit the Gekar Sinyi Lake. According to tourism department sources, work on the 3.5 km pathway around the lake, creation of infrastructure, Children Park and introduction of boats in the lake area have added interest amongst the visitors. These projects along with the recent survey and investigation work by Indian Navy drivers and ongoing electrification work of the lake received the much required impetus due to initiative of the Governor, source added. Sanction for Soochana Bhawan in advance stage

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: The sanction for the much awaited Soochana Bhawan is in advance stage and would get the central nod soon, Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy said immediately after his meeting with DoNER joint secretary P K Pattaink.

The project, persistently demanded by the press fraternity of the state, was approved in principle by the union ministry for development of North East Region a few years ago.

While it was an election promise of Sanjoy to the press corps, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu had also assured during a recent press conference that he would pursue the DoNER secretary Jayati Chandra for release of fund at the earliest.

Sanjoy, who got the technical vetting of the project worth about Rs 8.5 crore, reassured that the Soochna Bhawan would be a reality soon.

Arunachal Pradesh was one of the few states in the North Eastern region without such a facility that had prompted the scribes to press for its demand.

Roing expected to have Degree College soon

ROING, Apr 01: With the strong plea made by MLA Laeta Umbrey to the Chief Minister and education ministry for the inclusion of Roing in the proposed top model colleges in the state, it is expected that the long cherished dream of Roing people to have a Degree College will be a reality soon.

According to sources, the Centre has decided to establish about 10 model colleges in Arunachal Pradesh.

In his letter written to the ministers, it is said “Roing is located in the centre place of Lohit, East Siang, Dibang Valley and Lower Dibang Valley districts of the state. Lack of proper road communication made Roing secluded for many years. But now Roing will be linked by NH-52 to both east and west parts of the state, NH-37 to Tinsukia in Assam and 2 Lane Road to Anini under SARDP-NE. After the completion of these projects, Roing will have many alternative roads and is going to be the business and education hub of the state”.

Despite the serious communication hitches, several reputed higher school have come up in recent times in this isolated region. There are nearly seven Higher Secondary Schools including Anini, Dambuk, Boling, JNV, VKV, Roing etc fulfilling all pre-requisite criteria of the Roing, The letter further emphasised.

“We are well prepared to get the Degree College as appropriate land has been already earmarked for the site”, the MLA assures.

Bishop Washes the Feet of the Faithful on Maundy Thursday

Doimukh Apr 01: Christians in Arunachal Pradesh observed Maundy Thursday (the Thursday before Easter Sunday) to commemorate the institution of the Holy Eucharist. At Catholic churches the ‘Washing of the Feet’ ritual was also held.

Rt. Rev. Dr. John Thomas Kattrukudiyil, the Bishop of Itanagar performed the ‘Washing of the Feet’ ritual at the Infant Jesus Church Doimukh. The ritual and services began in the evening. All priests led the ritual in other Catholic Churches.

The chief celebrant of the Mass washes the feet of twelve men in the ‘Washing of the Feet’ ritual. The ritual is seen as a pious re-enactment of the Christ washing the feet of his twelve disciples at the Last Supper. The faithful take the ritual as a symbol of the Christ’s message of humility, service and love for his disciples. Maundy Thursday also symbolizes the Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane and Judas’ betrayal. To commemorate the Christ’s agony ‘night vigil’ is held in most churches. ‘Night vigils’ usually go on till the commencement of the Good Friday services.

The Holy Week commemorating the events of Christ’s last week before his death, is central to Christian tradition of Faith. The Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday with the great vigil and Easter are the chief festivals of the Holy Week.

Lohit brigade on humanitarian mission

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: Lohit Brigade paid compensation to the next kin of civilian porters who died while on long race petrol duties with Army troops. This ex-gratia of Rs. 4.24 Lacs and Rs. 4.53 Lacs to each family may not bury the sorrow of their tragic loss but will go a long way in easing their pain. U Falcum, a resident of Tarampa Village of Chaglogam and Monaj Singh resident of Barghat 32 Mile in Tezu , died while performing porter duties for the Army in August 2009 . The Army authorities earnestly swung in to action to ensure that the financial benefits reach the next of kin expeditiously.

Speaking at the ‘Compensation ceremony held at Lohitpur yesterday, the Commander Lohit Brigade , Brigadier Manjeet Mehta , Sena Medal, expressed his sincere gratitude to the people of Lohit , Dau and Dalai valleys for their unstinting support and assistance to the Army in securing national borders and execution of its duties in the remote area of Arunachal Pradesh. He also utilized this occasion to express willingness to provide all help and assistances to the people from the Army’s side. The ceremony was well attended by the representative of DC, Anjaw district and a number of other civilian dignitaries.

Y. Falcum, father of deceased porter thanked the Army authorities for the compensation and also for bearing the expenditure for education of his younger son for last one year. Choudhury Singh , father of the other deceased hailed the Army’s concern and being sympathetic and helpful to the family of late Manoj Singh.

Army Adventure Wing wins the first event of National Rafting Championship

YINGKIONG, Apr 01: Amid thousands of spectators, Army Adventure Wing Raiwala won the head to head sprint competition beating Army Adventure Wing Belgaum in day one of the ongoing 7th National Rafting Championship 2010 at River Siang near 12 kilo here today. Debutant Arunachal, preformed its best to finish at 7th position. Tuting-Yingkiong MLA Alo Libang today flagged off Championship amidst large enthusiastic gathering.

Besides BSF Gwalior (MP), Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, Arunachal Pradesh team, Army White Water Rafting Teams from Along, Nimu, Raiwala, Burdong, Belgaon are participating the championship.

Spectators thronged the river bed to witness the thrilling competitions consisting of Time Trial and Head to Head Parallel Sprint. The teams demonstrated their spirit of adventurism and expertise in maneuvering the dangerous looking rapids which the spectators loved.

The event is being organized by the Indian Rafting Foundations (IRF) and Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA) and supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism department, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh. DIPRO

Utkala Diwas

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: The Odias living and working in Arunachal Pradesh celebrated Utkala Diwas today at a function at Kali mandir, Naharlagun in a befitting manner.

While the whole world celebrates April fool today, Odias celebrate Utkal Diwas for Odisha, known as Kalinga or Utkala became an independent state on this day in 1936.

In his message on the 75th statehood day, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu congratulated the people of Orissa, particularly those who have been serving in Arunachal Pradesh for decades with complete dedication and sincerity.

The cultural relations between Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh (the then NEFA) is an established fact with the ruins of famous Mlanithan temples belonging to the 14th-15th Century AD having proof of Odishan architecture. Odias zealously guard their great Jaganath culture where ever they went and made a difference with their commitment of purpose, he said.

“There are good number of Odia teachers in the state. As teachers have a great role to play in contributing towards man making, I thank them for their contributions and appeal them to continue to serve the state, particularly at this juncture when Arunachal is poised to leap forward for a better tomorrow,” the message added. Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy, while greeting the Odias said the Paikas proved their bravery in defending their motherland Kalinga in 261 BC and turned Ashoka, the Chandasoka to Dharmasoka, with the Prince of Kalinga Bijoy sacrificing his life in the battle field. You are proud to be Oriyas today because of the Paika warriors and the Prince and celebrating the Utkala Diwas.

Sanjoy, who could not attend the function because of pressing engagements in Delhi, said: I am well aware of the contributions of Odia brethren towards the socio-economic development of the state and place my sincerest thanks to the Odias on this great day.

While extending my hearty congratulation once again, I appeal the Oriyas to continue to be Arunachlee-Odiyas in letter and spirit to serve Arunachal with renewed spirit.

I wish the Arunachal Utkal Sanskritika Parishad, the socio-cultural organization, a long and vibrant life.

AAPSU reiterates demand

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: AAPSU has reiterated its demand for suspension of officers of SSA, Rajya Mission for their alleged involvement in misappropriation of fund. It said that for impartial enquiry it is essential to put the officer’s responsible under suspension while warning to adopt a “democratic movement” if demands are not met by April first week.

AAPSU General Secretary Tujum Poyom further questioned the government on “meaningless game of suspension and revocation drama” in various departments in the state. He wanted to know if there was any political interest in suspending officers and forcing them to join office without any enquiries. This hopeless and nonsense act of government is creating confusion among the good and sincere citizens of the state, he added.

Farmers encouraged to practice Integrated Farming System by KVK

DAPORIJO, Apr 01: A five days Farmer’s Training Programme organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Maro, Upper Subansiri district concluded on Mar 29 last. Around 76 farmers from the nearby areas benefited from the training programme.

Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) W. Purnima Devi spoke on the topic ‘Package of practices for cultivation of high quality protein maize (HQPM) and Sesamum.’ The farmers interacted with the SMS and asked about the effects of using chemicals on their crops and soil. The farmers were also advised to practice integrated nutrient management for sustainable agriculture. Certified seeds were also distributed to the farmers for trial.

Scientific Pig Production was encouraged with special emphasis on points like housing, feeding, breeding and other management aspects of pig farming by Dr. Bina Saikia, SMS.

The importance of de-worming and disease management was also discussed.

With the aim of popularizing fish farming Dipjyoti Bora, Programme Assistant delivered a lecture on “Design and construction of an ideal fish farm” and advised the farmers to take up fishery activities on commercial basis to enhance fish production in that area.

The farmers were encouraged to practice integrated farming system by Tage Tabin, Programme Assistant. Nyape Bam, Farm Manager gave a brief overview of the activities and functions of KVK. DIPRO

AR organize Medical and Veterinary Camp

Jairampur, Apr 01: A Medical cum Veterinary Camp for Jagun and surrounding areas was organized by the 18th Assam Rifles, Jairampur under the aegis of 25 Sector Assam Rifles’s “ Dah Dvisiion” today. During the routine patrolling & Interaction with the Gaon Buras and the local population a need was felt for providing medical help to the locals as they have to traverse large distances to reach nearest medical centers. The camp was set up at the Patkai Gate grounds.

There were 7 doctors including two Lady Doctors and a Dental Doctor with mobile Dental Van and 3 Veterinarians who took care of the influx of patients & their livestock. Free medicines were provided to the patients. Apart from the routine medical aid, printed pamphlets on AIDS and Cancer awareness were also distributed to the people attending the camp.

The SDO Margherita Mr. Geoffery Ningthoujam, IAS was the Chief Guest for this function & had expressed his satisfaction on the Assam Rifles initiatives towards the welfare of local people. Numbers of people including ladies & children from the surrounding villages visited the camp and took benefit from this opportunity. The camp also coincided with the ongoing celebrations of the 175th years of the raising of the Assam Rifles.

Death of woman priest condoled

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: The Indigenous Faith and Culutural Society of Arunachal (IFCSAP) has deeply mourned the death of Tamak Kasem Ratan, wife of Narmi Jombo Ratan, Joint Director, Deptt. of Horticulture. Late Tamak breathed her last after prolonged illness on Mar 30 last.

In a condolence message, the IFCSAP said Late Kasem Ratan was a devoted and dedicated believer of Donyi Polo and she lived a pious life rendering services to humanity as a Priest. She played an important role in spreading Donyi Polo faith in the capital complex. Her contribution to promotion of indigenous Faith and culture is praiseworthy, the society said.

The void created by her departure is unbearable and a great loss to the Indigenous Faith movement, it said.

IFCSAP president Nabam Atum, on behalf of the society, conveyed deepest sense of condolence to the family of Late Tamak Kasem and also prayed to almighty Donyi Polo for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Today, India is at cusp of revolution in economic growth. As a progressive nation, we must focus on the creation of wealth and also on its re-distribution i.e. atleast a part of wealth created by the business should go to the society for its betterment. In this aspect, I would like to pin point that Corporate Social Responsibility is a part of the implicit social contract that nurtures and revitalizes economic prosperity. Here I would like to quote Robert Kennedy, who said,

“each time a man stands up to improve the lot of others, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope”

Infact, this is the opportune time for all of us to be together for construction of Dibang Multipurpose Project, to create a multitude of such ripples and generate sizeable wealth for the Arunachal Pradesh.

Wealth generated and invested back in to society expands opportunity for larger section of people, and we can thus create an upward spiral of wealth and prosperity in the entire Arunachal State. Historically, it is proved in the developed countries that it is the infrastructure which created growth in the countries and if you look the examples for the same, it is happening as on date in our own country in the states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Jammu & Kashmir. These states are basically hill states had similar problems of infrastructure which Arunachal Pradesh is facing today.

NHPC/Dibang Multipurpose Project, has taken up the Corporate Social Responsibility as part of the business and if you look around the thirteen projects which have been commissioned and generating hydro power in the country, have created modern societies around the projects apart from the enormous wealth added by these projects in uplifting the people. We are in a business of hydro power development with a distinct responsibility of uplifting societies/people/young students/children.

I am meeting students/PAFs everyday in my office and the interaction with them has brought out one of the important aspect of their life to focus i.e. desire/ambition to lead a happy life in future time to come. All of them are looking at us with a hope having both the positive and negative apprehensions. Such reactions are common and honest. During my stay here at project for about ten months, I have tried my best to remove the negative apprehensions from the mindset of the students/PAFs and now truth regarding the importance of the construction of the project has started flowing all around. The set of queries now put forth before me by the students/PAFs is regarding the compensation package, the mode of payment, the area for rehabilitation & resettlement and also the opportunities for employment. Such turn around in the thinking of society as a whole is a symbol of understanding the real facts about the Dibang project.

My friends, just to elaborate some of the activities/ works carried out by Dibang Multipurpose Project in recent years in and around the project area under the Corporate Social Responsibility are as below:

i) 280 nos. blankets were distributed to local people of Project affected villages in Dibang Valley/Lower Dibang Valley by the project in presence of local representatives

ii) Around 1300 nos. school bags distributed to the students in primary schools of Dibang & Lower Dibang Valley districts.

iii) For up-gradation of Helipad at Roing, Rs. 38.00 lacs paid by the Project to PWD, Roing.

iv) The construction of 02 nos. Rain Shelters completed in Dibang Valley District.

v) Computers, Printers & Audio-Visual aids handed over to Principal, ITI, Roing on 7th Nov’09 in NHPC Day celebration function for computer lab at ITI, Roing.

vi) For up-gradation of ITI, Roing under CoE scheme, trainings are being imparted to ITI trainees by NHPC faculties as a guest lecturer. NHPC spent about Rs. 8.6 lacs in the year 2009-10 for up-gradation of ITI, Roing.

vii) One Maruti Gypsy has been donated to ITI, Roing for on hand training of the students.

viii) Books and few technical literatures amounting to Rs. 66,500/- have been donated to upgrade of the library of the ITI, Roing.

ix) Project has requested DDSE, Lower Dibang Valley, Roing, to nominate 2 eligible students (1 boy & 1 girl) as per criteria for meritorious scholarship. Dibang project spent Rs. 35,000/- in year 2008-09 on the scholarships.

x) In order to generate goodwill an amount of Rs. 1 lacs has been contributed by DMP to sponsor state level football and culture demonstration on the occasion of Luthor festival.

xi) An amount of Rs. 22,500/- has been contributed by DMP to the department of Hydro Power, GoAP, Roing for mobilization of resources required for removal of sand/silt deposited in the channel of Mini Hydel Project at Deopani river.

xii) For construction of Children Park at Roing, the Location/land is being finalized by the District Administration.

xiii) One Mobile hospital Van has been purchased under CSR plan for conducting medical camps etc.

xiv) Generously donated the contribution of project for organizing the local festivals in the Roing and Anini.

xv) The expenditure incurred till 31.12.2009, is Rs. 74,81,146/- (accounts for year 2007-08, 2008-09 & 2009-10) with respect to the activities referred above. However, the expenditure incurred during the current financial year i.e. 2009-10 is Rs. 24,81,254/-.

In addition to above, Dibang project is planning to extend the financial support through scholarships to the students of Dibang Valley so that they carry out their studies nicely. Apart from this, the medical facilities and also the construction of foot tracks for improving the connectivity is also under planning. I am in constant touch with the locals/PAFs for getting the various suggestions/advises through which the improvement in day to day lives of the people is brought in at the faster pace.

We, the privileged few, who have enjoyed the fruits of India’s growth, hold the future. If we fail to act today, we are at a risk of endangering the well being of generations to come. I am reminded of a quote by Dietrich Bonhoeffer that action springs not from thought, but from a readiness for responsibility. I am confident that people from all the sectors will take responsible action for the construction of Dibang Multipurpose Project. (The contributor is General Manager, Dibang Multipurpose Project)

Training at Tuting, Mechukha

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI, GTC, Pasighat conducted market cum extension service workshop at Tuting, Upper Siang District and Mechuka, West Siang District on March 21 and 20 respectively.

During the workshop, participants were informed on ATMA and SAMETI under extension reform, concept on market led extension service and its importance in the present scenario, utility of marketing linkages and its problems, formation of SG and farmer interested group for better marketing of Agri-Horti products and preparation of organic manures, preparation of herbal insecticides from locally available material.

Meanwhile, the farmers and field functionaries thanked the SAMETU, Pasighat for conducting the workshop in the interior place and appealed the authority to conduct more workshops in near future for the benefit of the people.

Altogether 40 farmers and field functionaries of Agriculture and Allied Department participated in the Tuting workshop.

AOA to felicitate medal winning karatekas

ITANAGAR, Apr 1: The medal winning players of 23rd Senior National Karate do Championship 2010 would be felicitated by Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA).

The Karate team, which returned to the state capital today from Chennai, won six medals including one silver and five bronze. Further, all the medal winning players have qualified for the 34th National Games to be held at Jharkhand.

Meanwhile, AKA said that AOA president would request the CM to release incentives for those medal winning players. According to AKA, incentive of Rs 5 lakh for the gold medalist, Rs 3 lakh for silver medalist and Rs one lakh for bronze medal winning players at National level event were passed in the state assembly last year.

Moh-Mol festival

ITANAGAR: Moh-Mol festival of the Tangsas would be celebrated at Tirap Changlang Festival ground, Senki View, Itanagar on April 3. MLA Laeta Umbrey has consented to attend the festival as chief guest.

Arunachal Scouts recruitment

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Scouts recruitment will take place at Jorhat from 7th to 23rd of April next. The selected Scouts will provide service in Arunachal only and get attractive pay packages and service condition as that of Indian army. The idea conceived by the army for Arunachal region will open up vistas of employment opportunities for young Arunachalee to serve the country. The willing candidates will be given training prior to recruitment rally and transported to Jorhat by April 5 next, Commander Lohit Brigade, Brigadier Manjeet Mehta disclosed.

TCYA lauds Govt

ITANAGAR, Apr 01: Appreciating state Home Minister, local MLA and Govt officers for their recent visit to Taraso circle to take stock of the present situation in boundary area, the Taraso Circle Youth Association (TCYA) has hoped that Govt will take steps for solution to the encroachment problem being faced by the Taraso people.

The TCYA, Panchayat leaders, GBs and general public had also submitted three-point memorandum during the visit of the dignitaries for early solution to their problems.

Meanwhile, TCYA supported the demand of the All Papum Pare District Students Union (A.P.P.D.S.U) for establishment of NIT at Jote where people are ready to donate lands.
